There are two different formats for reviews…traditional and the “shopping” one. Which will you do for my review?
In 2007 when Cool Baby Kid first began offering cool picks and tips, there were few “review blogs” out there. In a few short years “review blog” and “giveaway” have become household names in terms of blogging. Meanwhile, our Quick Tips Tuesday posts became more and more popular with readers who appreciate the quick blurbs and advice on cool products and resources. Unlike other parenting sites, our only goal has always been to offer cool picks and unique gift ideas. With this mission and our readers’ lifestyles in mind, we’ve decided to create a shopping/review hybrid beginning in April 2010. Highlighting selected offerings with short blurbs about why we’ve chosen them, readers can easily see and navigated to our top picks. By spotlighting rather than reviewing, Cool Baby Kid continues to offer cool picks, tips and giveaways for parents, babies and kids which has been our goal since the start. Some reviews, however, lend themselves to the old style so Cool Baby Kid reserves the right to choose that one that best fits the style of the article.
How can I request a product review?
Complete the review submission form. Reviews submitted via email may not always solicit a response while those submitted via the form will always receive a “yea” or “nay” either way.
Does product submission guarantee a review on Cool Baby Kid?
Unfortunately, it does not. Once a non-returnable sample is receive by the review team, only those products which we feel are a perfect fit with our readers will be featured. Due to the volume of submissions, it would be impossible to highlight each and every product prospect.
Will I know whether or not our product will be featured?
Yes! Once a sample is received we will always contact the company either way with the status of the review.
What is the process and how long will it take for our feature to be posted?
Once the non-returnable sample product is received, a short review form will be sent so we can gather information for the review including possible giveaway information or other promotions. Completion of the review form places the product in our queue. Due to the volume of submissions, typical lead time is currently 5-6 weeks once the product is received and the review form completed.
Why does it take so long?
The editor of Cool Baby Kid is also a mom of a preschooler and toddler, a full time teacher, a student taking classed and co-creator of blog promotion website Double Duty Divas. Due to the number of submissions, layout of the site and lack of time to post more than one article each day or less in some weeks, the backlog is typically anywhere from 5-6 weeks once the product sample is received and review form is completed.
How long will the review be featured on Cool Baby Kid?
Due to the format of our site, your post will remain at the top spot for 1-2 days. During high-demand time periods (holiday season) multiple posts per day may drop the review to the second spot. However, your post will remain on Cool Baby Kid permanently.
Do you charge for reviews?
Never. All editorials are the honest opinions of our editors and writers. Each product is tested and only those which we feel meet the standards expected by our readers are featured. However, though there is a free option for giveaways, Cool Baby Kid also offers a paid option for giveaway hosting to compensate for time listing giveaways with multiple contest sites.
Why are products non-returnable? Can the sample be used for giveaways?
Products are non-returnable since each is actually used by the review team in order to thoroughly test it. While CBK has featured fantastic products from companies large and small since 2007, we have also tried a few which do not withstand the “kid factor.” For this reason, we are unable to use sample products for giveaways.
Why does Cool Baby Kid post stock photos and not actual pics of your kids using the products featured in the reviews?
We use and test every product which comes our way and all opinions are 100% ours. However, I am personally against posting pics of my children which is why readers have only seen one picture of our family since 2007. We would never advocate a product without testing it.
