Not Your Average Shoe: Polliwalks
One component of review writing involves classifying the product. Is it a toy, article of clothing, website, book? Coming across a one I can’t immediately put into a category is usually a good sign, as in the case of my new favorite shoes: Polliwalks. Though definitely a shoe, it’s also part toy as they are designed to look like an animal. They are also part game since the bottom of each features a “Footprinter Bottom…the footprints of the animal that the shoe represents. Step in mud, sand, dirt or water and leave footprints behind.” My 2 year old daughter meows each time she wears her Furry Kitties (pictured). She runs through the house–which she is able to do thanks to moulded soft foam construction, and a deep heel cup and strap–chasing the real cat who isn’t quite sure what to make of either my daughter or her new shoes. As with any great product, your dilemma will be which to choose? Furry puppies and kitties are good cold weather options, while the original duck, ladybug, gator and frog comes in a variety of colors and styles. Polliwalks‘ creator, Joel Rusnak, whose background as a toy designer helped to inspire the brand, has accomplished his goal of creating a whole new category of footwear. Do you love Polliwalks too? Tell me about it.
