I’m so excited to officially launch my new blog, From Potty Training to Weight Training! In early July I decided to train for my first Figure competition. Granted, no one knows what that means so I normally qualify by describing it as “natural bodybuilding emphasizing muscle tone over muscle size.” Here’s a bit more information about Figure competition. Since I also work full time as an 8th grade English teacher, have two kids ages 1 and 3, edit Cool Baby Kid and take classes, a new blog is probably not the wisest idea ever. I blame Gisele Jaquenod, the best graphics designer on the planet, who creates such adorable blog designs it makes me want to start new ones all the time.
And while Cool Baby Kid has evolved from hobby to part-time job, Potty to Weight Training is purely hobby. No pressure to post or being held accountable to anyone…just sharing my thoughts on this incredible journey from motherhood (and more than a few extra baby weight pounds) to stage-ready competitor. While pregnant I gave up things I loved for nine months (namely Diet Pepsi) for my babies, so I figured I could do it once again for myself. So for nine more months I’m depriving my poor body of Diet Pepsi once again, in addition to most other foods, and taking the challenge of a lifetime.
A few years back I started a cosmetic company, Ispiri Cosmetics, and put inspirational quotes on the packages. While that endeavor has taken a back seat since the kids, I still believe in the power of positive thinking and inspiration quotes at the cornerstone of believing you can do anything and am taking one of my favorites to heart. Eleanor Roosevelt said, “You must do the thing you think you can not do.” For me, that means eating cake. Join me on my journey from potty training to weight training.
