We Are…

PENN STATE! With my sister in law school (first in her class!) at my alma mater, we finally had a sufficient excuse to leave the kiddos with Nonnie and Grampa and head down for a game. With more than a little tailgating involved, I took my Frito-Lay tailgating pack with me. Since I’m training for a Figure competition, I assumed all of the snack would be off limits, but was pleasantly surprised when checking out Frito-Lay snacks a bit more closely that hey are void of TransFats, have less salt than you would think, and many include nutritional value you’d not normally associate with snack food. In other words…bring on the Tostitos! The normal people among ate them with Buffalo Wing Dip (shredded chicken, salsa, blue cheese, wing sauce, and cheddar cheese) and those looking to lean out our waistlines ate a healthier version with no blue cheese and less cheddar with Baked! Tostitos. Still yummy though. So whether you’re live at a game or watching your favorite team on the tub…like the 49er’s maybe…make it a Frito-Lay tailgate by entering to win your own prize pack.

Cool Giveaway: Enter to win a Frito-Lay Tailgating kit including better-for-you Frito-Lay products, a gift card to buy your own recipe ingredients and cool football to serve traditional or healthier versions of your favorite dip recipes. Just check out Frito-Lay and list one way they are “better for you” than you thought.

Extra Entries: Earn extra entries and read the contest rules including how to subscribe for winner notification. US Only. Ends 10/26/09.

I found out that Tostitos SCOOPS! tortilla chips contain less salt than a serving of fruit yogurt!

A 1 oz serving of Lay's potato chips contains less than 1/12th of a teaspoon of salt. That's less salt than in a serving of wheat crackers. mfalcon13 (at) hotmail (dot) com

They have always been ahead of the pack when it comes to taking out the ingredients you don't want (such as trans fats) and putting in more of the good stuff, like whole grains and real fruit.

I didnt know that all-natural sunflower and soybean oils contain good polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fats, which help lower total and LDL “bad” cholesterol and maintain HDL “good” cholesterol levels, which can support a healthy heart
