Chicka Chicka Boom Boom & 123 Gift Set {Giveaway}
Reading before bedtime is one of our favorite activities; now with the Chicka Chicka Boom Boom and Chicka Chicka 123’s stories by Scholastic on a 2 DVD gift set ($19.95) my child can enjoy these bedtime stories any time of day. They tell the stories of what happens when all the letters of the alphabet and all the numbers try to climb a tree and find out it does not support their weight or are chased out by bumble bees. As an adult I was puzzled to learn the alphabet in such a manner but my child was not consciously interested in the alphabet, just the story of the battered letters and numbers and the catchy “skit skat skoodle doot.” What I loved was hearing him sing afterward “a told b and b told c I’ll meet you at the top of the coconut tree.”
When I got the DVD I was not expecting all the accompanying stories, a whopping eleven in all. All of the stories were vivid, captivating and easy to follow and with the read along captioning. I know that even though we are not reading the books together he is still learning to read. I even managed to learn a few things too! While watching Wild about Books, for instance, I found out that a skink is a lizard. Though I’m not advocating television instead of books but with these great animations and read along captioning I think Mom’s rendition would fall a bit short. Thank you to Scholastic for providing review copies of these great DVDs.
