Good Night, Little Bunny By Jane Yolen

Publisher: Simon & Schuster Ages 1-4

Good Night, Little Bunny is a touch and feel bedtime story about a baby bunny preparing to go to bed. Each page has a different texture for the baby to touch. The moon is shiny and smooth, the bunnies pajama’s are soft, the toothbrush bristles are scratchy, the bedtime story has a fuzzy lamb, and lastly when the bunny goes to sleep his head is a soft patch for your child to feel.

Passing By by Yona Tepper

Publisher: Kane Miller Ages: 2-5

Little girl Yale watches the comings and goings from her balcony in a question answer format perfect for making predictions. We ask, “What do you think she will see next?” Coming from a rural neighborhood, we can glimpse into city life as the main character views her world from above. Our favorite part of the story, though, is the end when Yale sees her dad coming home from work. Kids can identify with this scene as they are immersed into city life with Passing By.

Andy and Sam Hide-and Seek By Liesbet Slegers

Publisher: Kane Miller Ages 3-5

Andy and Sam is an interactive book for young children. Andy is a young boy and his cat Sam go on daily adventures from a farm, to the zoo, on the beach, and finally back home again. At each location, Andy will ask questions about the picture. First, kids must find Sam the cat, who is hiding somewhere in each picture. Then Andy asks questions about the picture from counting the number of elephants at the zoo to where does Andy store his seashells in his room. Andy also asks questions about animal preferences, who likes the cold, to what is tickling his mother’s foot on the beach.

Boom Bah By Phil Cummings

Publisher: Kane Miller Ages 3-5

Boom Bah is an adorable story about a variety of animals that begin to create a marching band with a variety of household objects. As this makeshift band sets out they run into a real marching band in uniforms with real instruments marching down a road. The animals are awestruck and join in the marching as the band moves along the country road. This is a great book for young children beginning to read as it both incorporate sounds into their reading and allows young readers to play with words as they follow the animals’ stories.
