Baby Phat Kidz: Glitter and Glam for Mini-Fashionistas

Why We Love It

My daughter has one pair of sparkly shoes and would wear them every day if given the chance. Baby Phat Kidz line sparkles up a storm with their line of razzle dazzle clothing, a Baby Phat hallmark, for the little ones. We recently received a cool t-shirt, and while it’s a bit chilly in the Northeast to test it out just yet, the set (pictured) and other cold-weather duds are currently 20% off along with the entire Baby Phat shopping site for a limited time.

All The Cool Kids Know…Rebecca Bonbon

Cool fact…the creator of Hello Kitty, Yuko Shimizu, who I had the pleasure of meeting at a Time to Play event, has gone back to the drawing board. Her new character and product line based on an adorable French bulldog named Rebecca Bonbon is sure to explode into the pre-teen and young teen market. Or in my case, the pre-school sect whose mom remember Hello Kitty as a kid. It actually kind of neat…my daughter will grow up with her own iconic character sure to someday join the Hello Kitty ranks. This bulldog from Paris who now lives in a chic Manhattan apartment is hip and happening. Featured on clothing and accessories for girly girls, Rebecca Bonbon is the next cool thing. So when you start to see her everywhere remember you heard it here first.

Tea Collection: A Top Pick for Kid’s Clothing

If pressed to choose a favorite children’s clothing collection from among those I’ve reviewed, global-inspired Tea Collection comes out on top. In 2002 three pima cotton sweaters became the start of a this San Francisco based children’s clothing company which is now offered in specialty and department stores across the U.S., Canada and Australia including Bloomingdales and Saks Fifth Avenue.  It’s creators travel the globe to bring inspiration from their travels to the designs and colors in girls, boys, baby and women’s clothing. Anything but ordinary, Tea Collection holds up extremely well; my daughter’s favorite dress is one I reviewed last summer. Now paired with leggings since it’s a bit short, the dress honestly looks as good as new.

When searching for a cool new pick to share, I discovered mix and match sets. Included with leggings and shorts, the Flor Del Mar Pocketdress, Seaside Tile Halter Dress and Palma Playdress became staples of her summer wardrobe. Comfortable, soft and stylish, she’s worn them with leggings during travel, over a bathing suit on the beach and out on the town with mom and dad.  Combining versatility with an unmatched worldly style, Tea also makes great gifts. As I write this post the sale selection summons me with El Gatito 6-Piece Set ($109.50) as a possible winner. Here are some other cool picks:

    Gunapod Wearable Blanket

Although a wearable blanket isn’t a new concept, this new take on an old standby certainly makes it seems like it is. Living in the northeast, the temperature can be quite unpredictable. The day can start off warm and beautiful but then can get pretty cold later that night. With my daughter, swaddling just didn’t work. She hated it, but I needed something to keep her warm during naps and at night since regular blankets at such a young age are a huge no-no. I tried a few different ones and they were either too light, too heavy, I didn’t like the fabric, or they just didn’t allow her to move around as much as she wanted to. After I had my second child I resumed my search and I found Gunapod. When I first opened it I couldn’t believe how soft it was. Seriously, you’ll want one for yourself it feels so nice.

But even more than that this wearable blanket provides so many possibilities it’s definitely made things easier with my second daughter. First of all, it zips down the middle and all around the sides so not only can you change your baby’s diaper from the front, but you can also unzip the bottom to allow your child’s feet to stick out or just unzip a side to adjust a diaper. This also allows you to take the entire blanket off (along with unsnapping the shoulder snaps) so you can easily put your baby into the blanketor take her out without ever wakening her since the front and back are entirely separate pieces. Another great aspect is that it goes up to size 24 months. This is a great feature. My daughter got the green light a long time ago to use a blanket in her crib but she still hasn’t mastered the idea of keeping a blanket over her on chilly nights. With the gunapod I know she’ll be covered and now I don’t have to worry about her getting to chilly at night. Of course a mom invented this.
