In less than two weeks our family will head to sunny Florida for a long awaited Disneyworld vacation. Back in April 2008 Cool Baby Kid reviewed the Bebe Au Lait Nursing Cover, also know as the Hooter Hider Nursing Cover for the more adventurous type. I went away for the weekend with my three week old baby for the first time and took my diaper wristlet with me. Since I was using her diaper bag as her overnight bag also, I packed her diaper ditty to use when we went out for lunch. It was pouring out so my husband dropped us off in front of the restaurant. It was so much easier to carry my purse, the wristlet, and her car seat then lugging her HUGE diaper bag. This is all packed in a see through very convenient plastic bag. Since my daughter is less then a month old I did not need some of those items. The First Years True Fit™ Rebound Convertible Car Seat

When shopping for a car seat there are only really two considerations for us: safety and functionality. The First Years True Fit™ Rebound Convertible Car Seat is the only car seat out there with an anti-rebound bar which lessens the “bounce” after initial impact and actually prevent broken bones in a serious crash. It is also side impact and was given a 5-star NHTSA rating for rear and forward facing modes for ease-of-use which is apparent in many ways. The seat is equipped with a built-in level, built in lock-offs and a LATCH system for both the rear and forward facing positions and is super easy to adjust because the 5-point harnesses do not need to be re-threaded.

One of my favorite features of this car seat are the pads. There are enough of them to tightly secure an infant and they can be easily removed for a larger child or to be cleaned. Did I mention that the pads even look good? They are gender neutral and will look perfect in a minivan or Mercedes. As if all of these features were not enough the True Fit Premier can hold a child from 5 to 65 pounds which is great since this is one of those baby items that will last longer than a month. Overall I would strongly encourage anyone who is car seat shopping to consider the True Fit Premier for all of these reasons.

My daughter just started this fun game of tossing things like her bottles…her toys….her food. She throws them, I pick them up and clean them and give whatever it was back to her so that we can start it all over again. Bebe Soleil: Protective Sun Shade for All Seasons {Giveaway}

My girlfriend and I went for a walk yesterday, and we used the Bebe Soleil sunshade on her son’s stroller. It was extremely easy to attach; I peeled off the plastic and let the magnets hold the sun-visor in place on the stroller’s apron. As we walked we continued to monitor if we could see him through the sunshade and neither of us had an trouble at any point along the walk. At this time of year in the Northeast wind and cold is also a factor when walking. As we continued our walk the sun was no longer a factor but the wind became an issue and the baby was reacting to the cold. So we took the sun-visor and wrapped it around the lower portion of the stroller and used it as a wind protector. It worked wonderfully! Her son actually fell asleep for the rest of the walk. We never had to reposition the sun-visor and it kept the wind from hitting the baby.

We love when you can find a product that serves duel purposes, and the Bebe Soleil shade is definitely one of them. Using the sun visor as a wind protector was not our intent but it worked just as well protecting both the sun and wind. The shade itself is small and rolls right up into a tube like shape with a band on one side to hold it compactly in place. It is quick and easy to put on and take off–less then a minute either way. My girlfriend actually ‘stole’ this product from me at the end of the walk so I’ll need another one. This is a great product for any parents who uses a stroller all year round.

Baby Basics Diapers: A Less Expensive Alternative That Works

One of the many costs that comes with having a baby are diapers. They are one of the few products that you need from the moment the baby arrives and for many years to come. Parents change thousands of diapers before their kids are ready for the potty. As the mom of three kids, I have bought my share of diapers and recently tested Baby Basics diapers on my 3 month old daughter. Baby Basics are created by Supervalu and are available at Acme, Albertson and Shaw and other stores. The Baby Basics diapers have a soft paper cover, a double layer of elastic around the leg openings and attach with two stretchy fasteners to the front of the diaper. The design on the size 2 diapers includes green and purple stripes with a pink bunny and the words “B is for Bunny” on the front and a second bunny on the back.

While the most important factor to me when buying diapers is cost, absorbency and a good fit are also important. After all, the cheapest cheapest diapers are not worth the cost if they are constantly leaking and forcing you to spend more money on laundry detergent. Baby Basics are comparable to that of the brand name diapers with a stretchy waistband to fit my baby well. As far as absorbency and leak protection I had no complaints. We didn’t have a single leak when my daughter was wearing these diapers and which included overnight as sleeps for a twelve hours stretches. With other diapers we have tried we have had leaks out the legs as well as up the back so clearly the elastic legs and waist on these diapers provide good protection. Best of all is the cost of the Baby Basics diapers. At approximately $6.99 for their jumbo pack, these diapers were significantly cheaper per diaper than other store brands that we have tried.
