VTech Musical Bubbles Octopus Bath Toy {Giveaway}

My daughter LOVES the new Musical Bubbles Octopus by VTech. Did I stress that enough? L-O-V-E-S. I mean she already enjoys bath time so I was definitely skeptical about whether we really needed another bath toy. I didn’t think I wanted to bring one more thing into this house when she doesn’t even play with half of what she has.  But then I saw that it played music, let her push buttons (her all time favorite thing to do) AND it blew bubbles. Triple whammy.

This is one of those bath toys that actually stays on the wall when I put it there. It sits right at the edge of the tub which means it’s a perfect height for my daughter to reach the keyboard and splash aroundin the tub to the music. And the bubbles! She giggles when they start blowing and she still tries to grab them. It’s a great distraction for when I wash her face which ranks right below wiping her nose as her least favorite thing in the world. What I also love about this toy is it’s also educational by teaching animal names and musical instruments. What parent doesn’t love that?

This toy came around at the perfect time. My daughter is going to a birthday party on Saturday and I was wondering what to get her. I think this will be a perfect addition for any family pleasing both the kids and parents. You can purchase the V Tech Musical Bubbles Octopus from our Amazon affiliate link.

JOHNSON’S® NATURAL™ Baby & Kid Skin Products

The smell of Johnson’s Baby Lotion is one of my favorites in the world which I directly associate with babies.  And even though my own little ones are already two and four, I refuse to let them grow out of the original pink bottled baby lotion and surrender to any other scent. Most recently we tried out Johnson’s line of natural baby and kid products from a trusted brand we’ve used since 2006 when our first was born. These include:

Baby Lotion
Baby Shampoo
HEAD-TO-TOE Foaming Baby Wash
Kids 3-in-1 Shampoo Conditioner and Body Wash
Kids 2-in-1 Hand and Face Foaming Wash

Each JOHNSON’S® NATURAL™ product is 98% natural meeting the Natural Products Association guidelines.  Most importantly to our family, each cleanser uses the NO MORE TEARS® forumla.  While camping this summer we forgot our Johnson’s body wash for the kids and used our own resulting in both a screaming toddler and preschooler who were not happy after inadvertantly (both) rubbing their eyes with soap.  ”You’re making it worse” didn’t seem to matter with an important lesson learned: all soaps and body washes are not equal when it comes to kids.

We tried all five products and plan to continue using them. The 2-in-1 Hand and Face Foaming Wash now resides on the kid’s own sink; they think they’re pretty special with a hand pump of their own rather than having soap doled out by mom or dad. As for baby, I was surprised to learn that not all natural products are necessarily safe but trust Johnson’s evaluation process to include only those which meet the specific “needs of infant skin.” Natural, in this case, really is better.

I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour campaign by  Mom Central on behalf of Johnson’s and received the products necessary to  facilitate my review. In addition, I received a gift certificate to thank me  for taking the time to participate. Baby Basics Diapers: A Less Expensive Alternative That Works

One of the many costs that comes with having a baby are diapers. They are one of the few products that you need from the moment the baby arrives and for many years to come. Parents change thousands of diapers before their kids are ready for the potty. As the mom of three kids, I have bought my share of diapers and recently tested Baby Basics diapers on my 3 month old daughter. Baby Basics are created by Supervalu and are available at Acme, Albertson and Shaw and other stores. The Baby Basics diapers have a soft paper cover, a double layer of elastic around the leg openings and attach with two stretchy fasteners to the front of the diaper. The design on the size 2 diapers includes green and purple stripes with a pink bunny and the words “B is for Bunny” on the front and a second bunny on the back.

While the most important factor to me when buying diapers is cost, absorbency and a good fit are also important. After all, the cheapest cheapest diapers are not worth the cost if they are constantly leaking and forcing you to spend more money on laundry detergent. Baby Basics are comparable to that of the brand name diapers with a stretchy waistband to fit my baby well. As far as absorbency and leak protection I had no complaints. We didn’t have a single leak when my daughter was wearing these diapers and which included overnight as sleeps for a twelve hours stretches. With other diapers we have tried we have had leaks out the legs as well as up the back so clearly the elastic legs and waist on these diapers provide good protection. Best of all is the cost of the Baby Basics diapers. At approximately $6.99 for their jumbo pack, these diapers were significantly cheaper per diaper than other store brands that we have tried.

Sparkle Hearts: Hair & Body Line Perfect for Tweens

My ‘tween daughter is very much into beauty and fashion. She also wants to be her own person and have her own things. It makes her feel “grown up” knowing that she has her own brushes and combs, her own nail polish, her own body lotions (for children of course) and other products. Especially when she doesn’t have to share with her brother. We recently had a chance to try out a great new product for girls called Sparkle Hearts. Sparkle Hearts makes hair and body products just for girls (although my son enjoyed trying them too). We had the opportunity to try the Sparkle Hearts Shampoo and Sparkle Hearts conditioner.

The Sparkle Hearts products were designed with girls in mind. They bottles were colorful and “sparkly” all over. This was a huge plus as far as my daughter was concerned. She also enjoyed that fact that they were pump bottles rather then regular bottles because it made it easier for her to dispense the right amount that she needed. I LOVE the Spark Hearts products, not only for their cute design but also because they are a healthier option then traditional shampoos and conditioners. Sparkle Hearts products contain no artificial colors, phthalates or sulfates.

The packaging is eco-friendly and their products are never tested on animals. They are made with natural and organic ingredients. They also smell sweet like candy which my kids that was terrific. My daughter has VERY thick hair, and Sparkle Hearts shampoo did a great job cleaning it, and she was able to rinse it all out with no problem. The conditioner also left my her thick mane easy to comb and free from many of the tangles that normally plague her hair after a shower. My daughter loves “her” shampoo and conditioner. Sparkle Hearts also makes a body lotion, detangler and a body wash.

To learn more about Sparkle Hearts and how the concept came about visit them online at www.SparkleHearts.com. Their site is a lot of fun too. It’s very engaging with its cute animations and fun colors. Kids can also create their own Sparkle Heart that they can print out or save on their computer.

Boon Bath Toys: Fun for Kids and Parents Too

One would imagine the Splat Floating Ring Toss by Boon is actually for tossing rings. Tell that to my toddler daughter who thinks her new bath bracelets are fabulous. There’s a reason Boon actually has a category on the sidebar and the new bath toys are no exception.

  • Scrubble – Interchangeable Bath Toy Scrub Set, $9.99
  • Water Bugs – Floating Bath Toys with Net, $7.99
  • Splat – Floating Ring Toss Game, $7.99

All are BpA-free, PVC-free, and phthalate-free but not fun free! If you get any of these bath toys do me a favor. Tell me if you can’t stop staring at the water bugs so I know it’s not just me. And if you are actually able to ring the splat from outside the tub (yeah, I know it’s supposed to be for the kids) let me know because neither I nor my husband have done it even once.

Boon Frog Pod: Fun, Practical Bath Toy Storage

It’s as rare to love every single product from one company as it is to love every song on one album. Do you remember analogies from standardized tests in school? Fill in the blank: ________ is to the perfect company as Gypsy Kings are to the perfect album. The answer? Boon! Every single product they make is brilliant. The Squirt Spoon is revolutionary and Oval Animal bag necessary if you don’t want your house to be taken over by a small zoo of stuffed animals. No surprise, then, the newest Boon product we tried, the Frog Pod toy scoop and storer, is nothing less than the perfect way to collect and store bath toys. With holes in the bottom of the scoop container, water flows right out for clean storage. It can be mounted using the provided suction cups or adhesive strip. What else can I say? Love it. Also worth nothing about one of my all-time favorite companies…Boon gives 10% of profits to childrens’ charities.

Cool Tip: Green not your color? Check out the Boon Bug Pod ladybug style too.
