Fun Organic Clothes for Kids: ikookie

I love organic because it’s so soft, I mean, so good for the environment. Recently I discovered ikookie whose product line includes only 100% certified organic cotton baby and toddler, onsies, hats, hooded towels, and more. Gift ideas match organic cottons basics like the lap tee and yoga pants set, making it an ideal choice for the holidays. My son is the proud owner of the long sleeve “Little Guy” tee which fits him perfectly since that is one of his nicknames, though I’m not sure why since he’s anything but. I know we shop shop at ikookie because it’s products are gentler to Mother Earth and the babies and toddlers who wear them, but honestly the tees are super soft, and don’t you just love their name?

Preparing for Baby: Baby Lists by Elaine Farber

Not to be confused with Ferber–a moment of quiet reverence for the man who helped both of my children to sleep through the nightElaine Farber’s book, Baby Lists, is another must-have in the “preparing for baby” book department. Actually, I think both Ferber and Farber’s books will be the ones I’ll give to expecting friends or family members from now on. Baby Lists is the only “what to do and what to get” resource you’ll need to prepare for the new addition. From buying and packing a diaper bag to travelling accessories and safety products, it’s not only comprehensive but easy to read. Forgoing lengthy chapters and long articles, the book is presented in short paragraphs and lists as a reference for when you need it. Highlight your favorites and take it to register; Baby Lists does everything but put the kids to bed for you!

Even Crayon Eaters Can Learn to Draw

Crayola Beginnings for Budding Artists

Happy Halloween! Last year when I picked up my daughter on Halloween her child care provider gave me a bag of treats from the other kids. Completely clueless that I should have done the same, it was one of those moments I wished she came with a baby manual that clearly stated, “Send trick or treat bags on Halloween, even if she doesn’t eat candy.” Another entry could read, “Even though your toddler eats crayons she can still color and draw with special toddler products by Crayola.” CBK readers already know my daughter eats crayons. Who knew that Tadoodles solved the problem of crayon eating with easy to grasp stampers, crayons, and markers? Or that my concern of cream walls and carpets being decorated by my toddler was a mute point with a line called Color Wonder. The clear ink–markers, paint and even finger-paint–appear as color only on special Color Wonder paper! Even more amazing, the glitter paint stays on the paper so I don’t have to outlaw glitter at home as I do with my 8th grade students at school. With everything from mess-free Color Wonder to Tadoodles and triangular washable markers, Crayola Beginnings for toddlers solves every potential problem for budding artists, and their parents. Crayola…meet treat bags because now everyone can draw…even crayon eaters.

Cool Giveaway: Win one of several cool Crayola prizes including a Crayola Beginnings Utility Vechile (pictured) which give kids a place to store, carry and play with Tadoodle washables. Also up for grabs…triangular markers and paintbrushes and a Tadoodles stamper! To win, leave a comment on this post with your favorite Crayola Beginnings product. Fun With Water: Bubbles and Doodles

Bath Blizzard & Aquadoodle Draw ‘N Doodle Mat

We’ve been having lots of fun with water lately with the Aquadoodle Draw ‘N Doodle Mat by Spinmaster, a clean way to practice drawing. Simply fill up the Aquadoodle pen with water and like magic the doodles appear on a special mat. The durable mat and pens can not be consumed (don’t laugh…my two year old eats both paper and crayons…but not mashed potatoes) giving little ones a perfect place to practices their newly acquired writing abilities. Maybe I should order a few extra mats and try them out with my 8th grade students during writing workshops!

Speaking of having a blast with water, when we first put the Bath Blizzard into the tub and turned it on, my favorite thing in the world happened…giggles galore! My daughter reveled in the cascade of bubbles coming from the side of the tub (secured by suction cups) all through bath time. Safe and non-toxic, all Kid Kleen Products, a new line of bath activities from Spinmaster, are pediatrician approved.

Cool Tip: Buy the Bath Blizzard and Aquadoodle Draw ‘N Doodle Mat at Amazon.com and start stocking up for the holidays.

Toddler Bibs & Cool Monogrammed Gifts

Bella Wearing Alphabet Moon Toddler Bib

Looking for a toddler bib that would withstand the mother of all meals–a PB&J sandwich–and still come out intact, I found this online boutique which is truly unique. The bib is exactly what I was looking for–it ties (someone figured out how to pull off bibs that Velcro) and is also lightweight, easy to clean and stylish. Alphabet Moon doesn’t just do bibs and lots of their stuff can be personalized (which I love for gifts). This store definitely worth checking out.

Cool Pick: “Spell-Their-Name” pillows were even featured on “Friends“…now that’s cool.

Unique Plush Toys for Baby & Toddler

Rich Frog Toys & Children’s Gifts

Walking through Babies R Us, I see six infant carriers with the same toys dangling from the handles and think, “I have that too!” I suddenly have a desire to find baby #2 something different. After an extensive search, I hit the jackpot. Rich Frog, a Vermont-based company that makes toys for baby and toddler, carries toys that are unique and super cute. And their website is so neat-looking it makes you want to hang out and play. Finally, something different to hang on my carrier that I know will evoke scores of “Where’d you get that?”

Cool Pick: Big Baby Keys pictured above.

Cool Customized Creations

Hoohobbers: Toddler Towels, Moses Baskets & More…

I mention toddler towels because that is what I was looking for when I discovered Hohobbers. Clinging to the idea of a hooded towel, maybe because I don’t want my little girl to grow up, I realized the infant ones just didn’t cut it any longer. Hoohobbers immediately impressed me with their large selection, much of it personalizable, which is great for gifts. Reading about the company I found they actually got started with their Junior Director’s Chair, another neat-looking product. This is one cool company!

Cool Pick: It wasn’t easy, but I’m picking the Moses Basket…it’s machine washable!!
