Something for Mom: Cashmere Scarf by Nimli
Though the tag line for Cool Baby Kid is “products and resources for moms, babies and kids,” as in real-life the mom finds sometimes are overwhelmed by picks for the kiddos. I recently found an online boutique, Nimli, with items for both, and although they carry an entire line for kids, from apparel to furniture and bedding, I’m focusing on mom for a change and the green products that make you feel good about your purchases. Nimli, founded in New York City in 2003 by entrepreneur Rajat Arora, “is one of the most environmentally mindful retailers due to [their] practice and policy that requires all designers to ship their products directly to our customers” with a host of organic and recycled product choices. My family teases me that I’m afraid of color, (I see nothing wrong with tan and black,) but I will admit that wearing their Azuri Classic Pashmina Cashmere Scarf in Azure makes me feel pretty chic. So here’s to taking time for mom to be stylish too every now and then!

Corky Coats & Other Cool Kids’ Clothing: Gingersnaps Kids
Readers were asking about them, my friends kids’ were wearing them, so I finally decided to investigate the Corky Coats phenomenon. If you’ve never heard of them, join the club. But suddenly, maybe because my daughter is at an age to wear them, it’s all the rage. And after receiving the Nana’s Favorite coat from Gingersnaps Kids, I do see what all the fuss is about. You really just have to see these jackets to understand why everyone needs one. Even more exciting for me, however, was finding Gingersnaps Kids. Their line includes other favorites such as Kate Mack and Jamie Rae Hats. You can also shop the clearance bin or even suggest a product. Shhh…don’t tell anyone…but often I find product picks for CBK by browsing through a site that knows cool stuff. And this one does!

Holiday Hair Bows: Pink Bowtique
This is my hair bow history in a nutshell. My daughter was born in 2006, and I decided to make my own bows. After finding instructions for making hair bows online, I did just that for nearly a year. Another baby and three blogs later, there is just no time to make them myself. Plus, there was a reason I didn’t even own a glue gun. Crafts and I don’t normally get along. The problem, then, was not wanting to pay for bows after making them myself. Finding a shop like Pink Bowtique, I feel much better about buying them since the bows (and headband, hats, etc.) are reasonably priced and so much nicer than anything I could have concocted. The holiday bow pictured, if I attempted such a thing, would easily have taken a week to create. If you’re looking for bows that turn heads, look no further. My daughter eats crayons. My husband and I long for the day when we can go out to eat and have a ready-made activity in coloring, but since she insists on eating crayons, currently this is difficult. When she finally decides to create her first masterpiece, we have the perfect place to display it…on a brag board handmade by a.i. paper design at Catching Fireflies.
