Time to Learn with School Zone

School Zone Publishing Company

This week Cool Baby Kid is featuring back to school products and resources because, believe it or not, it’s that time already. As a teacher myself, recognizing the importance of working at home with kids, I was particularly happy to find School Zone. A publishing company that began as a learning center in 1972, parents and teachers can trust their workbooks, DVDs and other learning materials as top notch. With a daughter heading to preschool next year, I’ve been eyeing up the Dot-to-Dot workbooks (pictured) which help beginning learners with ABC’s and 123′s. Offering materials from baby to sixth grade, School Zone has your child covered, making it super easy to get started with a series called “Time to Learn” for Preschool, Kindergarten and First Grade, a kit that includes everything you need to get ready for school in each grade. As a mom and teacher, I can tell you we’ll be using School Zone in our house!

Cool Giveaway: Win a free set of workbooks from School Zone just by leaving a comment on this post. Click here to find out how to increase your chances of winning. An email address is needed to contact the winner. Contest ended. Congratulations Rebecca! Contest rules apply.

Saving for Kid’s College; Free Money, Seriously!

UPromise College Savings Program

I can’t believe I didn’t learn about this sooner! Here’s the skinny: register with upromise.com and then register your credit cards, debit cards, grocery etc. Every time you shop, a percentage of the money you spend will go into your child’s UPromise account if the store or company participates. An even better way to save college bucks is to shop online through the UPromise link at participating merchants (there are a ton like ebay, Overstock, Snapfish, etc.) Granted, some percentages are small, ranging from 1% up, but it’s all FREE!! I’m now obsessed with trying to get as many UPromise dollars into my account by shopping at participating stores, like getting gas at Exxon & Mobil (both contribute 1 cent per gallon.)

Cool Pick: Buy online and pick-up in store; you get the contribution but don’t pay shipping
