KitchenAid Rescue My Appliances Sweepstakes

Sears Appliances and Kitchenaid want to help rescue your old appliances by giving you a chance to win all new appliances, service live credits toward remodeling and a phone consult with a Sears’ kitchen design expert. Simply submit a photo of your kitchen and 1-2 sentences to Sears and share why your appliances need rescuing and cross your fingers. I just submitted an entry myself which took exactly two minutes (including taking a picture). It’s slightly embarrassing to show but in the spirit of the sweepstakes, you can see the disgusting oven below. I’ve tried repeatedly to scrub away that residue but either the oven is just too old or it needs a special cleaner which I haven’t gotten around to purchasing (in the last few years.)

Enter by November 2nd for your chance to win a suite of appliances from KitchenAid® ($7,000 value), Service Live Credits toward remodeling ($1,000 value), and a phone consultation with Susan Serra, Sears’ kitchen design expert ($200 value)!  Be sure your  password is seven characters long and uses alphanumeric characters or you’ll end up re-submitting the photo and captcha twice. See official rules or details.

And Good Luck…may the best (or worst) appliance win!

Boon Bath Toys: Fun for Kids and Parents Too

One would imagine the Splat Floating Ring Toss by Boon is actually for tossing rings. Tell that to my toddler daughter who thinks her new bath bracelets are fabulous. There’s a reason Boon actually has a category on the sidebar and the new bath toys are no exception.

  • Scrubble – Interchangeable Bath Toy Scrub Set, $9.99
  • Water Bugs – Floating Bath Toys with Net, $7.99
  • Splat – Floating Ring Toss Game, $7.99

All are BpA-free, PVC-free, and phthalate-free but not fun free! If you get any of these bath toys do me a favor. Tell me if you can’t stop staring at the water bugs so I know it’s not just me. And if you are actually able to ring the splat from outside the tub (yeah, I know it’s supposed to be for the kids) let me know because neither I nor my husband have done it even once.

Cool Giveaway: Enter to win your choice of Boon bath toys by visiting Boon and leaving a comment back here about your all-time favorite (bath toy or otherwise.) Click here to earn extra contest entries. Contest rules apply. Ended. Congrats Mommyhood is Thankless!

Now What Baby put together a beauty-themed collaboration of giveaways totaling over $1,000. I’m heading over there now to enter some. Another neat site–everyone is a winner at Popular Baby Products; sign up for their newsletter and have access to over 100 coupon codes for baby and toddler products.

Exergen Temporal Thermometer: Got Fever?

Maybe it’s a coincidence that I connected with the makers of the Exergen TemporalScanner about a review in the same week my toddler daughter had a febrile seizure making it imperative we treat fevers aggressively. On the other hand, maybe not. Either way I can’t help but recognize the irony in finding an easier and more accurate way to measure temperature around the same time that fevers have become a top priority in our house. A little background on the the best baby thermometer I’ve found: “The temporal artery thermometer scans the forehead area for the temporal artery and it is almost impossible to miss the artery during a scan….The gentle scan across the forehead is comfortable and not objectionable…” You can read the FAQ or my abbreviate ones below:

What is arterial temperature? It is the same temperature as the blood flowing from the heart and therefore the best determinate of body temperature.

How does it work? Just glide the thermometer across the forehead which will lock in the highest temperature it finds while beeping to alert the user it’s scanning.

Where can I get one? At retailers such as Walmart and Babies R’ Us or
