We made resolutions, but now it’s time to keep them!

During the month of January, Nickelodeon’s ParentsConnect.com is hosting New Year, New YOUniversity led by motivational and fitness guru, Patricia Moreno, author of “The IntenSati Method.” Parents can learn how to love their lives and the bodies they’ve got through mini daily lessons. The bite-size, doable ways to tune up your body and your attitude will include a slate of mini-lessons that don’t take that much time, but have major payoffs including: workout, tone-up, eat right, feel good and love yourself.

With an opportunity to win prizes all month, this parent connection is definitely worth checking out. Check out even more websites and resources for parents on Cool Baby Kid.

Crayola Lights, Camera, Color: Turn Pics Into Coloring Pages

At the Time to Play holiday showcase in October, one product stood out in the crowd. Now that I’ve had the chance to test it out personally, I can verify Crayola’s Lights, Camera, Color which turns your photos into coloring pages is about as cool as it gets. You may have already seen the moniker on specially marked packages of Crayola Crayons which offers a free one day pass to create as many coloring pages as you’d like. Log onto Crayola Kids Zone with your code and turn your last vacation or family members into coloring pages for the kids. With the ability to add graphics and more to the page in the form of body parts or “gizmos,” your creation will be a truly one of a kind coloring page. We turned my sister, mother and other family members into hours of fun which you’ll have a blast with too…I guarantee it.

Thank you My Blog Spark for providing a Crayola Crayon Tower for the purposes of reviewing Lights, Camera, Color.

Cool Baby Kid exclusive code alert. Use a special one day code PRT77F3S to try out Lights, Camera, Action and look for specially marked packages for your own access code once you’re addicted!

Managing All Those Pictures & Videos: Problem Solved

What is the biggest challenge for a new mom? Getting used to life without regular sleep? Nope. Figuring out when baby is hungry, whether they are too hot or too cold and countless other new considerations? Not for me. After two babies in two years, the biggest challenge for me continues to be managing all of the pictures and videos. Suddenly after my daughter was born I couldn’t put the camera down! Organizing them alone was a major chore. Do I separate them by week, month, season? After three years I’ve finally found a system that works which includes the following system:
  • After the first year, pictures and videos are organized by season, “Fall” or “Spring” for instance with pictures ion one folder and videos in another.
  • For special occasions, I use How Fast They Grow to scrapbook birthday, holidays and vacations. Each child has their own book.
  • Once a year a I order a picture book rather than attempting to manage hundred of prints.
  • Rather than having videos languish on the computer never to be seen, I create a Smilebox to showcase them along with some favorite pictures.
This way each child will have a scrapbook of major milestones, I have one book to showcase all of our pictures and videos can actually be seen as opposed to sitting on the computer. Smilebox is one of my favorite sites; just choose a theme and plug the videos (and pictures too) right in. Rather than spending time making layout decisions, Smilebox automatically sets it up for you…just pick an occasion and pop in the videos. From there you can play the Smilebox on your computer, share via email, or create a CD. My plan is to create CDs for each child that can be watched and later archived.

iCarly Fans Rejoice: Season 1, Vol. 2 is Now Available

iCarly fans will be thrilled to know that the new iCarly, season one, volume 2 DVD is now available. iCarly is one of the hottest shows on Nickelodeon. It stars Miranda Cosgrove (Drake & John, School of Rock) as Carly. She’s a sweet young girl who runs a weekly web show with her quirky best friend Sam and love struck Freddie. My entire family LOVES iCarly. So much so that we follow Dan Schneider, the shows producer, on Twitter just so we can have updates on new episodes. It’s not often that a family friendly show comes along that everyone in our family enjoys.

What I love about the show, aside from the fact it’s wholesome and very family friendly, is that it’s funny too! Not “stupid” funny where only young kids would laugh, but truly funny where the whole family, young and old, can appreciate the humor. We currently own iCarly season one, volume one so we were excited to learn that volume two was available and we couldn’t wait to get it so we could watch it. If you are a fan of iCarly or a parent who wants to know that their child, tween or teen is watching entertaining, “clean” programming then you’ll want to pick up iCarly season 1 volume 2 available now where ever DVD’s are sold.

The DVD also features some behind the scenes clips; 12 episodes from season one which run for about 292 minutes and contains two discs. Also check out Nick.com for additional iCarly videos, games & downloads.

Kids Want a Horse? Sure Honey, No Problem

The Magical World of Bella Sara

Since my own children are a bit young to test drive the world of Bella Sara, a interactive trading card game, I recruited two tween girls on my Cool Baby Kid team to try them out. Both really enjoyed entering the special codes found on the trading cards, navigating through the magical world “North of North,” and caring for their virtual horses. Now when my own daughter asks for a horse, which I assume she will inevitably do at some point, I can give her one to feed, brush and even clean his stall, all within a safe online virtual world. When you’re on the site also check out the free Bella Sara activities for your new horse lover.

Cool Tip: Baby Bella foals are on their way in November, and to celebrate Bella Sara is kicking off a huge celebration starting November 6th. Qualify for daily prizes, print babies’ birth certificates, and get access to special codes during this 10-day event!
