Father’s Day Gift Pick: 3DmimiMe Custom Bobblehead

With Mother’s Day under our belts, a day for dad is just around the corner. This year we decided to forgo a gift guide for the coolest pick we could find. Our hallmark great gift is unique, a good value and makes people ask, “Where did you get that?”  The criteria has been met with our Father’s Day gift idea in 3DminiMe personalized bobbleheads. The artists are amazing, creating a custom figurine or bobblehead from a picture of the subject. My choice was easy since my husband is an avid golfer, but with various figures to choose from in categories like sports & hobies, fun, occupations or romance, you’re sure to get the perfect mini-reincarnation of your favorite guy. You can even custom design your own figure for people or pets too! Their wedding cake toppers are just as adorable.

The process is simple. Just email a few photos including a close-up of the subject’s face and you’re custom bobble is on it’s way to being created. A conversation starter and fun way to celebrate your father or husband’s unique character, 3DminiMe is one of my favorite finds to date. Due to the process involved in creating a custom figure, be sure find out which photos you need to create an order to receive in time for Father’s Day.

New Top Pick: Bigjigs Wooden Playsets & Railway *Contest*

With two preschoolers and a review blog since 2007, that I’ve tested and spotlighted a nunber of toys is a bit of an understatement. Every once in a while something blows me away and stands out from the crowd. Such as the case with the Bigjigs King Arthur’s Castle playset (pictured). We put it together quickly; the process was fairly simple with the exception of one piece which still hanging out with the knights, horses and Merlin included with the set.

Explaining the castle to a friend, I said simply, “It’s just made really well.” Obvious quality construction and materials, the wooden playset, like other Bigjigs products such as their wooden puzzles and Bigjigs Rail train set, will withstand busy fingers and hard play from our preschoolers. No cheap plastic here!

I always like a “shop by age” feature when looking for gifts since I may be looking outside my kids age ranges or have a hard time remembering exatly what they were into at a certain stage. For a special gift or maybe one from a grandparet, the Rail Name Collection offers personalized letter rails to spell a child’s name or evena  ”Happy Birthday” message. This personalized collection and the wooden playsets like our or the cottage, barn, glacier or others are my top Bigjigs picks.

Gift Idea: Gourmet Gift Baskets Brownie Sampler {Giveaway}

As a speaker at a blog conference in 2010 I received a Gourmet Gift Baskets baked goods basket and was impressed with the quality and presentation of the items. More recently a yummy Gourmet Brownie Bakery Sampler was delivered on our doorstep and unfortunately didn’t last long enough for us to share.  The Belgian Chocolate Chunk was my personal favorite!

Each night we allow the kids a dessert if they eat their meal. For a few days the brownies became our family’s dessert of choice. I originally planned to bring a few to work or give some to my mother. With summer approaching my waistline has no business eating an entire collection of Gourmet Gift Baskets browines. But it didn’t quite work out that way.

I would absolutely use Gourmet GIft Baskets for gifts in cluding their birthday baskets and for a last minute gift idea their same day gift baskets. There are plenty of ways to search for a basket including by category (check out the Italian baskets) or theme such as Barefoot Contessa. By occassions, price or recipient, the site is easy to navigate making finding the perfect easy as easy as pie.

Or browines.

Why We Love It

 With gifts cards ranging from restaurants to home improvement, your local CVS is the place to hit for the ultimate last-minutes shopping item–gift cards. For some on our list and actual present is nearly impossible to pick. My brother, for instance, is historically difficult since he wants for very little. Check out the sheer number of various cards and look no further than CVS for just about every one you’ll need this holiday.

My BFF Doll: Design & Buy A Girl’s Best Friend *Gift Idea*

Why We Love It

I was first introduced to My Twinn through a catalog which I tore open when it arrived. These dolls looked exactly like their owners…how cool! Shortly thereafter I was lucky enough to design a My BFF doll to be my daughter’s new best friend. While I choose similar features to her own, the doll is a companion rather than a twin. At 23 inches tall, she will be able to easily sit at the doll table for a “a spot of tea” as my five year old likes to say.  As you can see (watch the video…it’s cool!) the process allows users to customize the face, hair and clothing giving gift-givers the opportunity to create a unique, one-of-a-kind Best Friend Forever doll for the girly girls in their life. Once we receive the doll, we’ll post an update on the review. In the meantime, happy shopping!

*Update: We received the doll…she’s huge! I was not expecting her to be so big and love that she will really stand out. My daughter’s new BFF can truly travel with her and even gets buckled in the car with a seat belt. I would highly recommend as the quality of the doll is fabulous. We’ll update once more on how she hold up, but so far she’s great!*
