Chances are if you are a parent or grandparent you’ve heard of Cricket Magazine Group as they’ve been published children’s magazines since 1973 with their first publication of Cricket Magazine (ages 9-14).  With the opportunity to check out various titles of their 14 magazine for kids, as an educator I was impressed with the blend of education content and fun stories, songs and cartoons. Our Ladybug magazine edition (ages 3-6) included poems, multiple stories, a song with notes for those musical talented and our two favorite features–an animal mix up and pull out Chinese Dragon activity.  We also enjoyed Spider, a magazine for kids ages 6-9, which includes a “Spider’s Corner” giving readers a chance to submit their own original pieces.  Though Ladybug was geared perfectly for our age levels, nearly every child can receive their own magazine throughout the year from Cricket Magazine Group, even as young as six months old (Babybug).  Not surprisingily they’ve won just about every award out there, but for good measure Cool Baby Kid is designating this magazine series a CBK Top Pick as well.

Disney Toy Story 3 Buzz Blaster Video Game

If Toy Story Mania has hit your house too, you  have two options. Resist the marketing maelstrom and refuse to allow your family’d budget to be depleted just because the biggest movie of the summer has your kids in a frenzy. Or dive right in, bring Toy Story toys such as the ones featured (Techno Source) one you family’s vacation giving you a few needed minutes of calm in the car.  Eat Woody Mac & Cheese and let Buzz Lightyear blast from the TV as everyone shouts, “To infinity and beyond” over and over until it becomes a mantra for summer fun.  Just a few short months ago at the Time to Play Spring Showcase the Toy Guys predicted Toy Story would take over…and it has. So you mind as well ride the wave and be sure to check out Buzz Blaster, a handheld LCD videogame that also makes Buzz sounds and reloaded with a flick of the switch. We also love Bop the Alien, also from Techno Source, which tests speed and accuracy as you “bop” the alien that lights up.  I’ll admit to taking this over from time to time to test my own skills.  Techno Source has your Toy Story toy fix with some cool picks; you know what they say…if you can’t fight them…
