Sprinkle, Shower, Let It Pour! Pampers $300 *Miracle Missions* Giveaway

Recently introduced to the concept of a “Sprinkle,” I wish the idea caught on in time for my 2nd baby. For those not yet enlightened, a sprinkle is a mini-shower, typically given for a soon-to-be-mom who already has children. Maybe the baby is a different gender…maybe her friends and family can’t resist the excuse to party. Either way, whether a sprinkle or full-blown baby shower, Pampers continues to celebrate new little ones with their Miracle Missions campaign. From throwing baby showers to Father’s Day BBQs to lending a helping hand to those in need, Miracle Missions encourage people to suport one another is small ways that make a big difference.

You can support Mission #3 by clicking the “I Support” button on their Facebook page. Pampers will donate one diaper, one pack of wipes, and one dollar to Direct Relief International ® to help those affected recently by natural disasters across the U.S. For their first mission Pampers showered moms-to-be; they would love to shower (or sprinkle) one lucky Cool Baby Kid as well! Thank you Pampers for the opportunity as a Baby Board member to help one expecting mother on her way to diaper cakes and “guess the belly girth” games.

Lil Baby Cakes: A Money Back Gaurentee You’ll Never Need

Tis the season for baby showers; I have three in May though am not sure what makes this time of year so popular for baby birthdays.  And while the baby registry makes buying a shower git easy, it’s not exactly original to be sure.  After seeing the Welcome to the Jungle picture (left), if you need more reasons to choose Lil Baby Cakes the next time you need a baby shower gift, I can provide a few.  Apart from having an amazing variety of designs from boy themed diaper cakes like Lil Athlete or girl ones such as Satin Pink Frog, here are a few ither reasons Lil Baby Cakes stands out from the crowd:

And if you’re thinking to save money by creating your own, then prepare to set aside some serious time since I’ve attempted this on two occasions. Never again.

Pour Duex Maternity Candle for Two: Gift for Expectant Moms

If you are need of a thoughtful gift for an expectant mother or want to bring a gift after the baby has arrived this candle is a great gift! Each candle is packaged in a box especially made for the babies specific birth month. The candle comes in a beautiful rich chocolate colored box with the birth month on the front and a description of the traits of that specific birth month on the back. The back of the box also notes the gemstone and flower for the particular month. The labels use that month’s colors. My daughter was born in February so the label is printed in black and violet since the February flower is violet and the gemstone is amethyst which is purple also. I like that this gives the gift a more personal touch. The candle and the glass container are tall and rectangular shaped with the birth month label on the front of the glass. The candle has to wicks-one for mom and baby. The candle is made from soy. Unlit the candle has a great powder fresh scent similar to new babies and when lit the candle burns smoothly and cleanly.

What Mama Never Told Me: Pregnancy Book {Giveaway}

So I sat down on a Friday afternoon with the book Mama Never Told Me by Emily Van Do and illustrations by g.f. Newland. This book took me no longer then 15 minutes to read cover to cover. It’s a cute, clever read that makes you laugh and smile between the actual comments and illustrations that accompany each page. Each page contains a pregnancy related comment and an illustration of the same woman throughout her pregnancy. The comments come from family members, co-workers, and even the mailman about hormones, inability to travel, figure and growing breasts. For anyone that is currently expecting or has already had a baby, they will absolutely relate to the commentary. It will bring back memories of the off wall comments that individuals would inflict on you when you were pregnant. This is a great gift for wishing well, stocking stuffer or a person you want to give a small token to. Also, I thought it was very amusing that on the back cover the author placed positive and negative thoughts she received about the book. All of the comments were very amusing. This is a fun book which is currently available in destination maternity superstores.

Laugh and Learn DVD Series: DVD Birthing Classes {Giveaway}

When I found out I was pregnant I was shocked, dubious, and then terrified. I took a test every day for four days just to make sure the baby was still there and then when I was sure I was indeed still pregnant I needed to prepare myself with information. I bought all the “best“ books and googled a different question every day regarding my symptoms. These books got me through the first couple of months, but then the terror of delivery loomed near. I registered for my first Lamaze class but was later disappointed to learn that my class dates had been postponed. At this point it was too late for me to finish all the classes with my work schedule so I did without and regretted it. I felt confused and uninformed in the delivery room and vowed not to make that mistake again.

For baby #2 I have Laugh & Learn: About Childbirth childbirth DVD to keep me calm. It is fantastic because you can watch it at any time. When there are topics that are confusing (or when your husband is not paying attention) you can simply rewind the DVD and watch it again. Also, for just $79.95 you can receive all three of Sheri Bayles’ Laugh and Learn DVDs: About About Childbirth, About Breastfeeding, and About Newborn Baby Care. If your husband is like mine he will take the “don’t know how to, can’t do it” approach. With the Laugh and Learn: About Newborn Baby Care though you don’t have to accept that excuse. This video shows you everything from swaddling to diaper changing to baths so that your husband can confidently handle these things while you are taking that much needed nap!

Another great subject is covered in the Laugh and Learn: About Breastfeeding DVD. Right after giving birth to a baby that has been living inside me for nine months the last thing I wanted to do was take breastfeeding classes; instead I wanted to get to know my baby. With this DVD you can get your most frequently asked questions answered: how do you hold them, how long do you do this, etc. and you can do it at your own pace when you are actually paying attention without a room full of visitors.

All three of DVDs cover some great topics and for only $79.95 I think this set should be at the top of any new mother’s registry.

Belly Ups: A Pregnant Belly’s Best Friend {Giveaway}

When my Belly Ups arrived in the mail, I was excited and apprehensive about this trying this seemingly new apparel. I completely expected the Belly Ups to poke me when I sat down or pull my bra down throughout the day. I was absolutely wrong! The Belly Ups are the most comfortable ‘suspenders’ I have ever worn and they work great! When you wear them under your outfit, you completely forget they are even on. I am currently 6 months pregnant and at that stage where maternity clothes are still a bit big however my non pregnancy clothes are no longer comfortable. The Belly Ups help make this transitional time much easier and cost efficient. Now, I can buy maternity pants and grow into them with the Belly Ups assistance.

This past weekend my sister tried on the Belly Ups to see how they work and she has since ordered a pair for herself. She has three boys and her stomach has excess skin that causes her to wear jeans larger then she needs. When she wore the Belly Ups, she no longer had to constantly pull her pants up. They hold your pants up so there is no sagging on your hips or butt when you walk. Belly Ups are the most unique product I have encountered in this pregnancy. I would recommend Belly Ups to anyone.

Editor’s Note: I have personally seen Shannon, the author of this post, wearing (proudly) her Belly Ups at work. They looked fantastic; not in a stylish sort of way, of course, but a practical one.

Being Dad DVD: How the Guys Get Ready for Baby

When I found out I was pregnant the first thing I did, after telling my husband and family, was run to the bookstore and get every book I could find on pregnancy. I had the general book, the week by week book and even a few baby name books. I read them cover to cover and then went and got more. I also picked up a few books for dad along the way. I don’t think the spine was ever even cracked on them. Like most guys, he wanted to be involved but reading a book on pregnancy isn’t his thing. He preferred that I read him the important tidbits while he hit pause on the sports channel. The DVD “Being Dad: A Sneak Peek into Pregnancy From a Guy’s Point of View” was perfect. Not only was the material presented in a way that kept my husband’s attention, but I think that having that information come from other guys and not just his increasingly neurotic pregnant wife would have spoken to him more. The follow-up DVD, “Being Dad 2: Inspiration & Information For New Dads,” picks right up with bring the baby home. Trust me if you have a partner who is anything like mine skip the books. These DVDs will be invaluable during your pregnancy and then when you bring your baby home.
