Fisher Price Hero World Rescue Heroes *Giveaway*
While I don’t necessarily mind my 3 year old wearing princess dresses with his older sister an example of all things girlie, I also think some “boy toys” would be great too. In the toy world, toddler/young preschool boys are the most neglected group in my opinion. With plenty to play with 4+ it’s great to see a line specifically for the younger set. The Hero World™ Rescue Heroes® from Fisher Price fills this gap with Perry Trooper, Billy Blazes™, and Captain Cuffs action figures.

Though potty training is 85% complete, we used the action figures as “potty prizes” which worked as planned. With a low price point ($9.99) they also make great gift ideas too. Now while our daughter invents fantasy world with “her people” or mini-princesses, the little guy has his own “people” now too. I’ve used them as a springboard to talk about the role each plays in our society, since unlike many boys his age, our 3 year old is not yet obsessed with firefighters and the like. Although thanks to Hero World™ Rescue Heroes® …he’s getting there.

Spin Master Toy Gifts *Giveaway*
I’m in a shopping frenzy. Playing right into the hands of marketers everywhere, the Black Friday ads and Cyber Monday deals have definitely put me in the mood to buy Christmas gifts like a madwoman. In honor of the holiday spirit, I thought today would be a good day to share a gift I will be purchasing for any toddlers and preschoolers on my shopping list. Moon Dough by Spin Master is just plain cool. It doesn’t try out or stick making it easy to cut, mold and create and is hypo-allergenic and wheat-free. I found this 32 piece Moon Dough Super Set for $29.95 which includes a molding magic playset, double moon dough and a ton of cool tools.
Cool Tip: Follow Moon Dough on Twitter and Facebook for exclusive deals and updates.
Another Spin Master product on our holiday toy list which we first spied at the Time to Play Holiday Showcase are Pop On Pals. Essentially you can change up the characters by “popping” the outfits on and off which can be fun and silly too. (Think “fireman ballerina” or “handyman princess.”) We have the amusement park (pictured) and many of the Pop On Pals are sold with accompanying adventure sets such as the ambulance/ice cream truck or deluxe airplane. For the 2+ age group, Pop On Pals make a great gift for the holidays or birthday presents too with some priced at $9.99 or less.
Cool Tip: Purchase Moon Dough Magic Barnyard and Pop on Pals Amusement Park – Girls

Melissa & Doug Deluxe Puppet Theater *Giveaway*

As a parent, you likely know all about Melissa and Doug puzzles and educational toys. You may be surprised to realize that Melissa and Doug actually began this successful business in the garage of Doug’s childhood home. Twenty years after their first fuzzy pig wooden puzzle, this household name creates some of the most iconic toys for children. We have Melissa and Doug puzzles and pretend play toys, and recently added to our collection with the Melissa & Doug Puppet Theater. Easy to assemble, the puppet theater is sturdy with a chalkboard to announce upcoming shows. Though still searching for an actual alligator puppet, “Andy the Alligator,” a character I bring out when the kids are getting nutty in the car, was able to make his Broadway debut behind the velvety curtains of our new theater. The hand puppets are sold separately from the theater, so unless you want to use your hands a la Andy, grab a puppet or two from their puppets and puppet theaters section to create a perfect Christmas tree backdrop with a “big gift” that doesn’t carry a big gift price ($89.99).
I love when the kids’ imaginations run wild, and while the recommended age for the Deluxe Theater is 3+, both my 2 and 4 year old enjoy both being the stars and watching puppet shows. Their theater is another home run for Melissa and Doug, creator of educational toys and children’s products and spark for kids’ imaginations all around the globe.
Cool Tip: We love the Melissa & Doug Puppet Theater making it a Cool Baby Kid Top Pick.

Sesame Street: Elmo’s A-to-Zoo Adventure
Elmo’s A-to-Zoo Adventure is the first Wii game designed for preschooler that my children can navigate thanks to the included “Gameplay Helpers” or remote covers that hide all but the essential buttons simplifying play. With the ability to customize a profile (up to four) and a Parent’s page that updates your child’s progress, both the A-to-Zoo Adventure and Cookie’s Counting Carnival Video Games for Wii allow learning through play. Audio directions also set these games apart; with very little prompting from her parents our preschooler can jump her way to success in each level. Speaking of jumping, the option to jump or press “2″ to answer a question is another fantastic feature. I also like the parental assistance option and feel this is the first time my preschooler can be successful with a Wii game without me having to grab the remote from her.
See Elmo’s A-to-Zoo Adventure in action:
Some of the kids’ favorite games include catching butterflies with embedded shapes, taking virtual “pictures” of animals and catching acorns that fall form the sky with letter in them to spell words. What are your favorites?

Mickey Mote: New Innovation for Preschoolers
Released yesterday, the Mickey Mote gives preschoolers a whole new way to interact with their favorite characters. A mouse ear shaped remote with four different colored shapes, once programmed, allows kids to answer questions and interact with Mickey and friends. Used with any Disney Preschool DVD that includes Discovery Mode™ the Mickey mote can be purchased with either Mickey Mouse Clubhouse: Mickey’s Number Roundup and/or Handy Manny: Big Construction Job DVDs. I wasn’t surprised to find out Mickey Mouse Clubhouse is the #1 series with children ages 2-5 since our 2 and 4 year old love the show and were so excited to see the characters live this Fall at Disney World. Having a new way to interact that challenges them as they grow is exciting since truly innovative products for preschoolers are rare. The kids love the remote, and I love the educational component which ask them to recall information and answers questions for a more interactive experience with favorite Disney characters. A new innovation for preschoolers from Disney, the Mickey Mote and accompanying DVDs make a great gift for the holidays for any preschooler.
